Krista Finds Her Way Back, Regains Her Freedom and Her Son
My name is Krista Polk and I am 24 years old, my son Maddyx is 4 years old.
Just a little over a year ago I was facing a five-year prison term because of a felony conviction and I had lost custody of my son to the state of Kansas. I realized at that point I needed to find help at Primrose Hill Adult & Teen Challenge.
There have been many amazing things that have happened since I came to Primrose, including regaining custody of my son!
By God’s grace I have the privilege of being a mom rather than being behind bars. I am learning to be the mom God intended for me to be.
My life has changed dramatically. I am learning to be a Christian woman and I have a hope and a love for life that only comes from God. I am absolutely in love with my heavenly Father. My son and I have a bright future.
Through obedience to God He has worked out everything for the good. I have my life and my son has his mom.
But one thing I do; forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13
2018 was a wonderful year of blessing and we look forward with much anticipation more of God’s greatness to come in 2019!
We continue with the expansion of intern housing. This expansion will give an opportunity for more graduates to stay at Primrose Hill and minister to new ladies coming into the program.

As we begin 2019, I have been reflecting back on the past 4 years, and the faithful support of our partners and donors. Churches, businesses and individuals that believe in the ministry of Primrose Hill and have invested time, finances, talent and prayer. Because of this, lives have been changed forever –mothers, children and their families.
As we begin our fifth year of ministry to women and children, we will maintain our commitment to excellence in the following areas:

At Prim Goods our mission is to empower women who have been rendered hopeless by the barriers of addiction, to rise up and thrive in their families and communities. We are more than conquerors and we are all part of God’s body. Learning to live as such is what we strive for.
Kim, a recent graduate says, “Prim Goods has taught me responsibility for my future. It has shown me that I’m making a difference in lives and reaching out to others. It has taught me how to serve God while giving back to this ministry.”
Our most recent graduate Crystal said, “Prim Goods has taught me how we work as a team. It has also taught me how to work with difficult situations and has built my confidence. I am no longer scared to put myself out there. All of these things will work for my good in the future.”
Something I see in both Kim and Crystal’s words is gratitude. That and the mind set of “I can do hard things.” This is such a powerful combination as being grateful keeps us humble and perseverance produces endurance; two major qualities necessary to walking out our faith. I love to hear the word teamwork coming from a student. In order to have teamwork, you must first realize that you need help and secondly, you must accept others as they are. Working together as a team is to care, encourage and build one another up – and that is striving. We need each other. We are better together.
